The Peace Lily is one of the most beloved and enduring houseplants in the world — a graceful, low-light champion that combines lush, deep-green foliage with elegant white spathes to create a look of serene, understated sophistication. Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, it has earned a permanent place in homes, offices, and interior spaces globally for its ability to thrive in low-light conditions where few other flowering plants succeed. Its distinctive white blooms — a hood-like spathe surrounding a slender spadix — appear in spring and often again in autumn, lending a clean, classic elegance to any setting. Beyond its beauty, the Peace Lily is renowned as one of the most effective air-purifying houseplants available, making it as functional as it is beautiful. Note: toxic to pets and humans if ingested — keep out of reach of children and animals.
Plant care
Sunlight: Low to bright indirect light; one of the few flowering plants that thrives away from windows — avoid direct sun
Watering: Once a week on average; water when the top inch of soil is dry — the plant will visibly droop slightly when thirsty
Soil: Rich, well-draining potting mix; standard indoor potting soil with good organic content works well
Fertilizing: Once every 6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer; no feeding needed in winter
Humidity: Prefers higher humidity; mist leaves occasionally or place on a pebble tray with water to raise moisture levels
Hardiness: USDA zones 11–12 outdoors; best grown as a houseplant; keep above 60°F (16°C) and away from cold drafts
